Srilanka Squad for Cricket World Cup 2019 Unveiled, Tharanga, Chandimal Out

Srilanka Squad for ICC Cricket World Cup 2019

Sri Lanka Cricket Board has unveiled the 15-member Squad for the forthcoming ICC Men’s cricket World Cup 2019 which will kick off on May 30 at England and Wales.

Dimuth Karunaratne will lead the Sri Lanka team in the Mega event. There are hot debate and concerns over the 15-member Squad and Dimuth Karunanatne’s Captaincy as his last appearance in the ODI’s was in previous World Cup 2015.

The left-handed skipper played a total of 17 ODI’s in his Cricket career at 15.83 as batting average.

It was shocking news when the selectors announced Karunaratne as captain. The Sri Lanka team had different experiments and the captaincy exchange hand often in recent tours.

In the last few series, Sri Lanka had three different captains as Lasith Malinga, then Chandimal and Angelo Mathews all have been at the helm for some time.

The fans were expecting, Lasith Malinga to lead the team in the Showpiece event. Sri Lanka should have stuck with Lasith Malina as he is a senior and experienced influencer player, given him all the encouragement and support.  Malinga can motivate the whole team behind the captain and mark the history in the big event.

Sri Lanka is happy to ignore the latest indiscretions of selecting the squad and keep an eye on the Big Cup.

Jeffrey Vandersay, Milinda Siriwardana, and Jeevan Mendis has a surprise comeback and selected in the Sri Lanka 15-member Squad.

Vandersay and Siriwardana both played last ODI in October 2017 and Jeevan Mendis last performed in a match against Afghanistan in the World Cup 2015.

Surprisingly many in-form players, Danushka Gunathilaka,  Niroshan Dickwella, Akila Dananjaya, Dinesh Chandimal, Angelo Perera, Wanindu Hasaranga and Upul Tharanga, are excluded and didn’t make into the Squad.

Sri Lanka has an abundance of good all-rounders, the most destructive and classical, Thisara Perera could be a match-winning player. Thisara Perera is an experienced all-rounder, he has gained his fitness back, and his batting is improved.

Perera is the leading run-scorer in his last 15 innings and his strong confidence for sure will give stable support to the team. Sri Lanka team need to trust and let him bowl for at least eight overs in a crucial time

There are also two very crucial players at the middle order batting line of Sri Lanka in the squad.  A left-handed Lahiru Thirimanne and Dhananjaya de Silva, Sri Lanka will face a hard time to decide which player will bat in the middle order because they didn’t seem in rhythm in recent series.

Sri Lanka might not take any risk and will go with experienced Angelo Mathews as he is fit and his aggressive batting style put some decent runs on board along with brilliant variation in bowling skills.

South Africa Squad for ICC World Cup 2019 Announced, Nortje Out due to Injury

South Africa Squad for ICC Cricket World Cup 2019

The Cricket world cup 2019 is going to start from May 30 in England and Wales. South Africa have announced their 15-member squad for the World Cup 2019.

Fuf Du Plessis will lead the South Africa cricket team in the showpiece event.

South Africa will clash in their first World Cup battle against England on May 30 at Oval.

Hashim Amla and Aiden Markram are the leading batsmen, and both made in the Cricket World Cup squad; South Africa has all the faith in Hashim Amla.

Although South Africa had an excellent back to back win series against Pakistan and Sri Lanka at home and the winning’s rhythm is charged, but their opening pair are still struggling to give a decent startup.

Quinton de Kock is in brilliant form and guaranteed to come at the top of the order with Hashim Amla or Aiden Markram.

Hashim Amla was struggling to put some runs on board in recent tours while Aiden Markram showed promises but was very inconsistent.

This CWC 2019 likely to be the last world cup for captain Faf Du Plessis, the Veterans Hashim Amla, and Dale Steyn. Imran Tahir and JP Duminy already revealed the ODI’s retirment after the world cup.

The most shocking exclusion in the squad was all-rounder Chris Morris and Reeza Hendricks.

Reez Hendricks had an excellent performance late January with an average 50 in ODI’s, but he was not picked in the squad. Instead, Dwaine Pretorius and Andile Phehlukwayo were selected as an all-rounder in the World Cup squad.

South Africa always have an abundance of pacers, yet again they have almost six pacers in the 15-member squad.

Andile Phehlukwayo and Kagiso Rabada have been regularly bowling for a long and also in the form, seems guaranteed pacers in the XI squad.

Other Pacer speedsters are Anrich Nortje, Dale Steyn, Dwaine Pretorius, and Lungi Ngidi but to choose a balanced and stable team; South Africa must go with only two pacers in the CWC matches.

The key player, Imran Tahir in the squad, has been the most successful and consistent bowler in recent years.

Since 2015 World Cup Imran Tahir dismissed 91 players, he will be the match turning player. South Africa will also need another frontline spinner in the matches.

South Africa World Cup 2019 Squad Update (May 07, 2019)

South Africa has faced the first setback ahead of the World Cup 2019. The pacer Anrich Nortje is out of the ICC World Cup 2019 due to a broken right thumb. Nortje was also unable to join the IPL due to the injury problems

The bowler all-rounder Chris Morris will replace the injured pacer. Chris Morris last appearance in One day International was in February 2018

South Africa has always face bad lucks in World Cups , sometimes on the field and sometimes out of the field.

Australia Squad revealed for Cricket World Cup 2019, No Handscomb

Australia has officially announced the 15 member Squad for the 10-nation ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019. The Big event is set to kick off on 30th May 2019 in England and Wales.

Australia rules cricket!! Australia has won the Cricket World Cup five times with three in a row and was a runner up in two World Cups. It is the most successful, unbeatable and competitive team of the World Cup.

The good news for Australian cricket fans is that Steven Smith and David Warner have been selected in the 15 players Squad for CWC19.

Australia has a very balanced Squad for this World cup, luckily the expected return of two great players a former skipper Steve Smith and aggressive David Warner make the Aussies as one of the strongest contester in the Cricket’s Big event.

Both players are coming back after one year ban, but they are currently playing in the Indian Premier League and looking in a top-notch form.

Unfortunately, some of the great veterans dropped, the most surprising exclusion is the omission of the pacer Josh Hazlewood and in form brilliant batsman Peter Handscomb.

Halewood is having a back injury, and Handscomb dropped despite being in a top form and was a great option as the backup wicket-keeper as well, However, due to recent tremendous performance of Usman Khawaja and Aaron Finch’s outrageous batting style, the selectors were left with no choice but to name them in the final 15 Squad.

Also, Kane Richardson and Ashton Tuner are left out; they both played recently against India. Jhye Richardson and Mitchell Starc both named in the World Cup Squad subject to their fitness.

Aaron Finch is going to lead the Australian Team in the World Cup 2019 along with Pat Cummins as vice-captain and Alex Carey serving as wicketkeeper in the squad.

Nathan Lyon is ready to set up his first appearance in the Mega event of Cricket. Australia has great hope of Nathan Lyon; he is the most successful spinner after Shane Warne in the test matches. However, the World Cup would be very challenging for him.

Adam Zampa is the key player and first choice when it comes to a destructive leg break and googly. Adam Zampa is the leading wicket-taker in 2019.

Experienced Nathan Lyon will also have fight side by side and could be a very useful facet.

Australia always produced great wicketkeepers, who can forget the legend Adam Gilchrist; he had the most dismissals as a wicketkeeper in Australia.

This time, it’s Alex Carey who has been named as wicket-keeper. He is the only full-time wicket-keeper without any proper backup in the World Cup 2019.

Alex Carey needs to be extra careful if he gets an injury then it would be very difficult to manage a new wicket-keeper as a replacement as it will require the approval of the ICC’s event technical committee.

Australia had a backup in the form of Handscomb, Matthew Wade and Travis Head, but they are out from the squad and didn’t flight to England.

Earlier Afghanistan announced 23-member preliminary squad for the training camp at Potchefstroom, South Africa, now they have shortlisted their best 15 players.

Before a few weeks of the big event, Afghanistan board has made a surprising announcement axing the current captain Asghar Afghan, and nominated Gulbadin Naib as the new captain for one-day internationals and Rashid Khan as vice-captain.

Gulbadin Naib will lead the Afghanistan team in the World Cup 2019.

Afghanistan squad has a mix of energetic young and experienced players, and they are capable of doing big upset against the best team in the Grandeur event.

Recently Afghanistan had a successful series against Ireland; they did many experiments in the batting order trying a different combination of players.

They tested four leading batsman, Hazratullah Zazai, Mohammad Shahzad,  Noor Ali Zadran and Javed Ahmadi at the top order. Unfortunately, Javed Ahmadi didn’t make into the squad.

Zazai and Shahzad are the most aggressive leading batsman in the squad, while experienced Zardan will offer solidity to the batting line. All-rounder Rahmat Shah could be the option to come and play at the top order.

The biggest strength of Afghanistan is the destructive spin-bowling, Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, and Mujeeb ur Rahman and they are ready to show the spin magic in the Showpiece event.

All three have 54 dismissals in the last 12 months; they were outstanding everywhere in that period.

Luckily, fast bowler, Hamid Hassan whose last appearance was in 2017 has been selected in the squad.

The chief selectors of ACB, Dawlat Khan Ahmadzai said

Luckily for us, the come-back of senior Fast bowler Hamid Hassan is good news. However, we will take into account his form and fitness during upcoming practice matches.”

Seamer could be the most productive in the England weather conditions; Afghanistan comes up with the best pacers in the squad.

Skipper Naib, Dawlat Zadran, Aftab Alam, and Hamid Hassan all have decent pace, and it would make Afghanistan as tough contester of CWC 2019.

Afghanistan will start their World Cup 2019 campaign against the defending champions Australia on 1st June in Bristol.
